The Hiking and Trekking is excellent. It's great to walk and climb through the mysterious and whimsical Picos de Europa. On many routes in the Picos there are many steep ups and downs, so choose your route carefully if you are a beginner or walking with small children. Use the app of la finca roja to pick your route and start your walk from the finca or first take the teleferico up.

Fuente Dé cable is the most famous tourist attraction in the Picos de Europa, very close to la finca roja in Potes. It is a closed gondola that allows you to go 800 meters higher in a few minutes, then you are at an altitude of 1823 meters with a magnificent view over the Picos de Europa mountains. Of course, you can enjoy all this beauty and go down, which many people do, but it is also a starting point for beautiful high altitude mountain hikes, trekking, snowshoeing in winter, etc.

In the famous Balneario de la Hermida you can enjoy thermal water in many ways. Additionally, many other treatments can be booked. But you can also enjoy massages and beauty treatments in Potes itself and even at home at la finca roja.

The Picos de Europa is a protected nature reserve where preparation of slopes is not allowed. For the ski slopes, therefore, you have to drive an hour and a half: the ski resort is called Alto Campoo. You can also take lessons there and rent equipment.

In different places, depending on the wind, here you can paraglide, a tandem jump with an instructor who tells you exactly what to do.

The Picos are known for their steep mountains, so electric bikes are widely used lately. You can practice MTB with a guide who adapts the route to your level, or rent (E-) mountain bikes yourself.

Around la finca roja in Potes are various climbing spots also a few beautiful via ferrata's or klettersteig routes.

In the Picos de Europa are various places where you can ride the rivers canoeing or rafting.

The Picos de Europa is very suitable for Canyoning and Speleology (spelunking). You make your way through a river in a gorge through waterfalls, sliding, walking, rappelling, jumping and swimming.

By 4WD to have an adventurous experience and see more of the Picos de Europa. The guide can tell you everything about you see around you. You can opt for pure 4x4 tours or combine it with a walk. The Cares Route is very popular to combine with the 4x4 tour because you immediately have your transportation organized at the end of the gorge.

Pesaguero Nature House is a 17th century mansion, recently renovated, which for many years was the municipality’s town hall. You will find there a permanent exhibition of the natural elements that characterize the Liébana region.

This Roman church is also located in the middle of Potes, between the tourist office and the parking lot and the bus station.

Santo Toribio de Liebana is the oldest monastery in Spain. The relic is preserved there, a fragment of the holy cross on which Christ was crucified and is known as the “lignum crucis”.

Torre del Infantado is one of the old fortresses, in the old town of Potes.

Near the finca at the end of the road where the center of Potes begins you will find La Soldreria, our favorite restaurant. It is a good place to be, both for lunch and dinner, Spanish or international. and then to have a drink and have fun until 1 in the morning

This authentic Spanish restaurant by the Cayo brothers, Casa Cayo, is located on the most popular small street in Potes.

Artisan and organic ice cream in all kinds of flavors at this ice cream shop. And also delicious crepes and waffles!

The favorite burger restaurant of my boys is Casa Cabo at C/ San Roque. You can also eat pizza here (also gluten free). A nice place, a little more than fast food, with a bar. My favorite here: the goat cheese salad.

Butcher shop with good meat restaurant for the carnivores among us. Fresh local products and very well prepared.

Spanish restaurant, authentic, beautiful old building and good wine/cider.

At the end of the path from the finca towards the town, turn right under the arches. Spanish bar with a cozy outdoor terrace in a picturesque location in the middle of Potes, on the river.

Atmospheric and good restaurant, suitable for vegetarians, with vegan and gluten-free options. And with a terrace with mountain views.

If you walk a little further you will find En la Higuera on your left. Here you can enjoy tasty pizzas and burgers inside or on the terrace. Especially popular among young people.

Delicious Mexican restaurant, a little more expensive than the average restaurant in Potes, but very good and friendly service. Also suitable for vegetarians, with vegan and gluten-free options.
