Activities around Potes

In the center of Potes you will find the tourist office next to the church. You can get information here about the activities around Potes. And on the way to Potes you probably passed the large modern Picos en Tama visitor center, just along the road, next to the sports field. Permanent exhibition on the Picos de Europa natural park.

The different exhibition rooms represent a journey through the characteristics of the National Park landscape, its geomorphology, fauna and vegetation, its river networks and the relationship between man and nature.

Visiting hours:

Open all year round from 9am to 6pm, except January 1 and 6 and December 24, 25 and 31.
In all cases, the last time of access to the center is half an hour before closing time.

What is there to Do?

There is a lot to do around La Finca Roja, especially if you like the mountains:

For a beautiful view of the Picos, go up with the Fuente De cable car. You can also rock climb near the finca, do a via ferrata, mountain hiking, trekking, caving, canyoning, E-Mountainbiking, horseback riding, kayaking, rafting , and if there is snow, backcountry skiing or snowshoeing. To ski on the slopes you have to drive a little further.

When you return to the finca after your activities you can enjoy the pool, the trampoline and rest on your lounge chair or in your hammock.

The Village of Potes

But there is more than mountains. In 10 minutes you walk along the straight path from the finca to the old town of Potes, a 9th century town with beautiful fortresses and ancient churches from Roman times and medieval houses, very close to each other. You can take a walk through the town, see buildings or walk along the river that runs through Potes. And in between, of course, you can enjoy the shops and all the nice restaurants, bars and terraces. When the weather is nice, it is always lovely to cool off in the river in the village.

Culture & Delicacies

Don’t forget the traditional delicacies such as the delicious cheeses, cured meats, ham and of course the wine, cider and pomace for which this region is known. There are wine tastings, a pomace festival and also a visit to the cheese factory is possible.
